1. Clear pre-contract information
Before a consumer service contract is accepted, the customer should receive clear information about the trader, service scope, total price, payment, timing, complaint handling and cancellation rights.
2. Fourteen-day withdrawal period
For many distance service contracts, consumers may have a 14-day right of withdrawal, subject to statutory exceptions and rules where performance begins at the consumer’s request.
3. Legal guarantee
Goods sold to EU consumers benefit from at least a two-year legal guarantee where goods are faulty or not as advertised. Remedies can include repair, replacement, price reduction or refund according to applicable law and circumstances.
Service performance
The service provider remains responsible for performing the agreed service with reasonable care and in accordance with the confirmed scope.
5. Unfair terms and practices
Contract terms must be transparent and must not create a significant unfair imbalance. Misleading commercial practices and hidden mandatory charges are prohibited.
